Cultural

For the local 'Tabare Sine' people in the Simba region of New Guinea where C. papuensis is endemic, cicadas also help them mark the time of day dependent on which cicada is calling at the time. 'Dui helme' calls at noon which, being the hottest time of the day is their indicator to stop working and rest in the shade.
