Appearance

Female scale circular, 1-1.3 mm in diameter; strongly convex; dark brown; rather pointed or nippled at center; central area usually covered by secretion; when rubbed a light resinous yellow. male scale the normal oval shape, much smaller than female; secretion covering center or nipple, somewhat ashen, forming a light central spot.
