Caenurgina crassiuscula

The Clover Looper or Range Grass Moth is a moth of the family Erebidae.
Caenurgina crassiuscula I think this might be right. Caenurgina crassiuscula,Clover Looper,Geotagged,Lepidoptera,Summer,United States, insect, moth

Appearance

The wingspan is 30–40 mm. Adult: two dark bands on each forewing almost touch each other near the midline, and the inner (or more basal) band touches the inner margin [whereas in Caenurgina erechtea, the bands do not touch each other near the midline, and the inner (or more basal) band does not touch the inner margin]. The color can vary but a brown base color almost always points towards C. crassiuscula.

 Habitat: Attracted to a light at night in a rural area. API,Caenurgina,Caenurgina crassiuscula,Clover Looper,Clover Looper Moth,Geotagged,Summer,United States,moth

Distribution

It is found from coast to coast in the United States and adjacent parts of Canada, in the west to the Northwest Territories, Yukon, and Alaska. Adults are on wing from March to November depending on the location.
Clover Looper Moth (Caenurgina crassiuscula or Caenurgina erechtea)? At porch lights near an overgrown back yard habitat.

Caenurgina crassicuscula is described as having "two diffuse dark bands which almost meet near the inner margin and touch the inner margin (Covell)." Caenurgina erechtea is described as having "2 dark bands that are clearly defined but do not touch each other or inner margin." However, there are exceptions to this rule. I'll be leaving it at the former unless informed otherwise! API,Caenurgina crassiuscula,Clover Looper,Geotagged,Summer,United States

Food

The larvae feed on various species of clover, grass, and lupine.
