  1. The visual ID app I use first suggests the Forage Looper, then the Clover Looper. Just passing the message, I don't know how to tell them apart. Posted 4 years ago
    1. I went over every photo at Bug Guide, MPG, and BAMONA and found numerous contradictory identifications. So I just went with this from BG: "two dark bands on each forewing almost touch each other near the midline" and "The color can vary but a brown base color almost always points towards C. crassiuscula." They also said "The following loosely applies to the 2 mentioned species. There is just too much variability for these descriptions to be valid much of the time." I always feel like I'm just guessing with this moth. Posted 4 years ago
