African banded amber millipedes

Pachybolus ligulatus

Pachybolus ligulatus is a millipede from Pachybolidae family. Like all diplopoda it is characterised by having two pairs of jointed legs on most body segments.
Two Giant Millipedes seen in Sungbo Eredo, Nigeria The multi coloured millipede is likely African banded amber millipedes (Pachybolus ligulatus)
The single colour one I think could be Ophistreptus guineensis.

I noticed a lot of these when we were walking through Sungbo Eredo - fortifications built between 800-1000 AD, these ruins are amazing. Not often visited even though only 1 hours drive from Lagos, they are difficult to find as they are quite overgrown.

In amongst all the fallen leaves there were many millipedes and I couldn't resist taking a picture of two different types. African banded amber millipede,African banded amber millipedes,Geotagged,Nigeria,Ophistreptus guineensis,Pachybolus ligulatus,Spring, giant millipedes, nigeria
