The Blackish Meadow Katydid is a pale green katydid with broad dark brown stripe running along the back. The antennae are extremely long measuring about four times the total body length. The katydid produces a low buzzing sound during summer season. These katydids are most active in late afternoon and at night.

Appearance

Blackish Meadow Katydids vary in colour throughout their distribution, with darker individuals occuring in the southern part of their distribution.

Found among grasses and reeds, or plants with large, narrow leaves such as Lomandra and Dianella species, the adult Blackish Meadow Katydids feed on the flowers and seeds.
Nymphs are carnivorous and feed on small bugs (Leptocorisa sp.)
