''Crassothonna capensis'', also known as little pickles, ruby necklace, Cape aster, Cape Othonna, and Bobbejaankool, is a species of the genus ''Crassothonna'' previously in the family Asteraceae, and is a native of the Eastern Cape of South Africa. It is a native highveld species that originates from the southern Drakensberg region.
Othonna capensis succulent flower and buds Plants within genus Othonna are African and most closely related to Senecio succulents like string of pearls (Senecio rowleyanus). In a natural setting, this is a ground trailing plant with small green succulent leaves that look like tiny cucumbers - hence the common name of 'little pickles'. I have mine trailing down from a hanging basket. If happily stressed, the leaves turn a purplish red. These tiny yellow flowers appear during the southern winter.

Grows to around 30 cm in height and up to 1 m in width. Flowers are no more than 10 mm in diameter. Asteraceae,Asterales,Australia,Crassothonna capensis,Flora,Geotagged,Little pickles,Othonna capensis,Succulent,Winter, botany, macro, new south wales, yellow flower
