Othonna capensis succulent flower and buds

Plants within genus Othonna are African and most closely related to Senecio succulents like string of pearls (Senecio rowleyanus). In a natural setting, this is a ground trailing plant with small green succulent leaves that look like tiny cucumbers - hence the common name of 'little pickles'. I have mine trailing down from a hanging basket. If happily stressed, the leaves turn a purplish red. These tiny yellow flowers appear during the southern winter.

Grows to around 30 cm in height and up to 1 m in width. Flowers are no more than 10 mm in diameter.
