''Dichorda iridaria'', the showy emerald moth, is a moth of the family Geometridae. It is found in North America, where it has been recorded from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Ontario, Pennsylvania, Quebec, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
Showy Emerald - Dichorda iridaria This moth didn't want to move from the power supply for my light, so I had to settle for this shot. 

WS: ~ 30 mm. Green wings with white AM and PM lines. White costal streak is mottled at the base. Hosts: Poison ivy, staghorn sumac, and winged sumac. Status: common.

Habitat: Attracted to a 395 nm LED light at night in a semi-rural area.

Appearance

The wingspan is about 25–28 mm.

Naming

The species was first described by Achille Guenée in 1857.
