Dromicodryas bernieri

Dromicodryas bernieri is one of only two species in this genus, which is endemic to Madagascar. It is a non-venomous diurnal snake that primarily eats lizards but has also been observed eating at least one frog.

Naming

The specific name, bernieri, is in honor of French naval surgeon Alphonse Charles Joseph Bernier (1802–1858), who collected natural history specimens in Madagascar
