Appearance

Fairly large species, male of this species have full wings and is capable of flight. Female doesn't has wings.

Length of male : 11 - 13 cm
Length of female : 18-21 cm

Another species, Pharnacia magdiwang Lit & Eusebio, 2008 was described by Taxanomists from Philippines. Specimens were from the island of Sibuyan. However, this species has been placed as synonym to the species Pharnacia ponderosa.
Stick Insect, Phasmid This is a female Phasmid of the species Pharnacia ponderosa.
However, 2 Taxanomists from Philippines described specimens from this same location i.e. Sibuyan Island as a new species - Pharnacia magdiwang only to be synonymised by their European counterparts to Pharnacia ponderosa.

If it is Pharnacia ponderosa, then the species is quite widespread in the island of Luzon and other neighbouring islands. Probably only DNA tests of specimens of different locality will determine if they are all one and the same species. Geotagged,Pharnacia ponderosa,Phasmid,Philippines,Sibuyan,Stick Insect,Summer

Distribution

Widely distributed in various islands of the Philippines but there is doubt if all of them are of the same species. More detailed study will still need to be done to verify that.
