Stick Insect, Phasmid This is a female Phasmid of the species Pharnacia ponderosa.
However, 2 Taxanomists from Philippines described specimens from this same location i.e. Sibuyan Island as a new species - Pharnacia magdiwang only to be synonymised by their European counterparts to Pharnacia ponderosa.
If it is Pharnacia ponderosa, then the species is quite widespread in the island of Luzon and other neighbouring islands. Probably only DNA tests of specimens of different locality will determine if they are all one and the same species.
