I found a bunch of these eggs in some very rotten wood. The eggs were about 5 mm long and were hard - in fact, I wondered if they might be seeds at first. I took a couple home and cracked one open under my digital scope to examine the larva. It was off-white, squishy (ha!), and had little, pinching mouthparts (see video).
