Giant Anteater - front view, Zie-Zoo, Netherlands Here&#039;s Alice the Anteater, a local celebrity in this zoo. This would probably rank as the #1 mammal I&#039;d like to see in the wild one day. They are so weird as well as graceful. <br />

  1. Maybe I'm strange, but I think this is such a beautiful creature! Posted 4 years ago
    1. Not strange at all, in real life its a very impressive and elegant appearance. Unfortunately too many fences blocked a good shot here, but check out this shot:

One of the most beautiful mammals in my opinion.

      1. Oh wow! What a dramatic look! Posted 4 years ago
        1. Arent they gorgeous? We did see its little cousin in the wild in Brazil a few years ago:
Southern Tamandua closeup We were able to approach this Anteater quite closely as it doesn't seem to see and hear very good when its busy sniffing the earth in search of food. Don't be fooled by its cuteness though, they have nasty long claws that can cut you wide open. Anteater,Brazil,Pantanal,Southern Tamandua,Tamandua tetradactyla
