Portrait of "Alice", a Giant Anteater in this zoo. Here we see a closeup of her head. Her remarkably long snout has a 60cm tongue to scoop up ants. The tongue can be launched a whopping 150 times per minute. A Giant Anteater can eat up to 30.000 ants per day.

The giant anteater, also known as the ant bear, is a large insectivorous mammal native to Central and South America. It is one of four living species of anteaters and is classified with sloths in the order Pilosa.
