  1. What do you mean by black grasshopper, I cannot find a species with this name? Do you have a specific species in mind? Do you know the scientific name?
Looking at the antennae it is probably a nymph from the family Acrididae. Here is a list of over 300 species of them reported from Indonesia.

    1. I just said black grasshopper as the colour of this insect. I don't know the scientific name of this insect. I'm not zoologist nor scientist. I just love macro photography and after my retirement as Civil Engineer, I live in the country side so I can find a lot of insects around my home yard. Thanks for the link. Posted 8 years ago
      1. Very few of us are zoologists but we try to identify the species the best we can using different online sources or books. We have compiled a list of useful sites for this purpose. Some groups of species and some regions are covered better than others. Since you are retired and have some free time you can follow the tips in this guide and try to identify some of the species you find. The more you search, the more you will learn. Just keep in mind that most of the species are specific to the location/island/region they live in so you should always include it in your search.
