Looks like a Giant Katydid, but apparently not!?!?! This 'not so little' girl scared my wife and I while walking home. We brushed against a plant over-hanging the path in our apartment complex and this is what leaped out... :O After making sure my wife was ok, i used my phone as a light and managed this shot using my old Zeiss 35mm f/2.4 (which is a surprisingly good macro).       1. I can tell you it's a katydid, but id'ing it further may be difficult… so often with insects it comes down to tiny details in the sex organs or something obscure like that. Posted 10 years ago
        1. I have been looking into it, and to the best of my ability, i think it is Ducetia dichotoma.... Posted 10 years ago
          1. There are only pinned specimens as reference for this species so it hard to compare them. My other concern is that the distribution range of this species is described further away from the location where this specimen was. I will create the species anyway, it looks close enough and they are very hard to identify, it could be another species in the same genus.

Ducetia dichotoma is a species of katydid found in India. It was described in 1998 by Ingrisch & Shishodia.
