
Hickory Smooth Gumdrop Gall Midge - Caryomyia sanguinolenta
This leaf had 3 different species of Caryomyia midge galls on it. I've IDed it for the pointy ones near the middle. Some of the galls looked parasitized. Plus, there is a tiny, yellow photobomber near the bottom of the photo. It was a busy leaf!
Habitat: Carya sp.; rural yard
