Midge Galls (Polystepha sp.) on Oak (Quercus sp.) Leaf
Bright yellow/greenish galls on an insanely vibrant leaf. I have never seen a leaf this color! I couldn't even find a tree in the immediate area that had matching leaves, which made me wonder if someone could have carried the leaf from another area and left it here?! I'm not sure, but it was really cool.
Habitat: Growing on oak (Quercus); Mostly deciduous forest bordering a meadow
*The galls might be from hemipterans in the family Phylloxeridae
