Old Man of the Woods - Strobilomyces sp.
I'm not sure what species this is as the taxonomy of Strobilomyces sp. is very confusing, uncertain, and messy.
The flesh of this mushroom did not turn red when I cut into it. The edges of the pores got pinkish (barely), but then the flesh got dark grayish (over an hour). I'm not sure if this is an indicator for what species it is or if the mushroom was simply old?
Habitat: Growing in a pile of bark that had been pulled off a tree by woodpeckers; deciduous forest
