Old Man of the Woods - Strobilomyces sp. I&#039;m not sure what species this is as the taxonomy of Strobilomyces sp. is very confusing, uncertain, and messy.<br /> <br /> It is one of my favorite mushrooms, though I rarely see it! The cap and stem are fluffy/woolly. And, when you cut into the flesh, it turns red! It is one of my favorite mushrooms, though I rarely see it! The cap and stem are fluffy/woolly. And, when you cut into the flesh, it turns red! So cool.

      Definitely. I imagine "Fuzzy Phallus Fungus" would have been unacceptable. So, "Old Man of the Woods" is the next best choice. Posted 4 years ago
