Crane Flies - Subfamily Tipulinae I'm still working on the ID for these crane flies. My top 3 choices are: Nephrotoma ferruginea, Tipula paludosa, or Tipula ultima. I favor the last option at the moment.

This morning, I was hiding in the shade of a conifer, trying to get some bird photos, but I was distracted by the 100's of crane flies that were flying around - most mating. They were everywhere, even crawling on me. It was really cool!
