Praying Mantis Egg Case (Ootheca), Parasitized by Podagrion sp. Wasps I was given a praying mantis ootheca and told that it was not viable. I kept it in a vial and a month or so after receiving it, and then I noticed that the jar was full of mantis nymphs and tiny wasps.

I know that the ootheca was collected in the US, but I am not sure where...yet.
1. WOW! Fantastic find/gift(?). Posted 4 years ago, modified 4 years ago
    1. Thanks! I was so traumatized though. All the baby mantises and wasps died in that little jar. I would have tried to rear them if I had known. Well, actually, I never would have accepted the ootheca if I had known it was viable. Posted 4 years ago
