Unknown Caterpillar on Trillium (Trillium erectum) - Tortricidae
The caterpillar was in the center of the flower and had some silk near it. I noticed an interesting behavior-- it sort of bounced backward whenever I touched it. I didn't notice any feeding damage on the petals.
Habitat: Spotted in Trillium erectum, which was growing beside a stream in a deciduous forest. Other plants nearby include skunk cabbage and marsh marigold.
