Cimbex connatus - Finished cocoon Cocoon spun by the larva previously documented in these images:<br />

Found it on a small Elm (Ulmus) actually, but it must have fallen out of the Alder tree (Alnus) above it.<br />
A day after finding and feeding it with leafs from the proper tree (Alnus) it started spinnig a cocoon:<br />

Cimbex connatus - Larva Nice phat larva of one of our largest Sawflies. Found it on a small Elm (Ulmus) actually, but it must have fallen out of the Alder tree (Alnus) above it.<br />
