Cimbex connatus - Larva Nice phat larva of one of our largest Sawflies. Found it on a small Elm (Ulmus) actually, but it must have fallen out of the Alder tree (Alnus) above it.<br />
A day after finding and feeding it with leafs from the proper tree (Alnus) it started spinnig a cocoon:<br />

Cimbex connatus - Larva

Nice phat larva of one of our largest Sawflies. Found it on a small Elm (Ulmus) actually, but it must have fallen out of the Alder tree (Alnus) above it.

    1. At 40-45mm+ these are quite impressive and somehow seem to be harder/stronger (more muscular maybe?) than similarly sized caterpillars imho. Posted 4 years ago, modified 4 years ago
