Anthurium andraeanum is an epiphytic evergreen tropical perennial of the Arum family.

The guy on the backseat had a bush full of these flowers in his hand, stolen from the forest. Upon mentioning this to staff, they didn't even see it as abnormal behavior. Such is the quality of "conservation" in several parks in Colombia, not even within protected zones does anybody seem to care. It makes you lose all hope. Appearance

Drooping, heart-shaped, dark green leaves arise in a clump on long stems from the plant crown. Each axillary flower (typical arum family) features a creamy yellow tail-like spadix enclosed by a large, flat, waxy red spathe. Flowers are bisexual and small, producing small, fleshy berries.
