Veined Spear-grass

Austrostipa rudis australis

Austrostipa rudis (subsp. australis) is a tall spear grass found in the south-east of Australia.
Veined Spear-grass (Austrostipa rudis australis) This beautiful subspecies had almost disappeared in the little valley behind our hill due to the invasion of a northern species of Pittosporum. It has also become a rare species in it's range.
The local community have worked for years to turn things around and, once the trees were removed, vast swathes of this have returned to the area.
