Erionota thrax – Palm Redeye Skipper You are never far from a banana tree, so bugs associated with bananas are bound to be present. But, surprisingly, very few bugs can tackle the banana leaf. In fact, I think the only banana leaf feeding bug I have in my collection, is the caterpillar of this butterfly.

The red eye is an indication that this butterfly, is a low light variety and is mainly active in the early hours of the day, feeding on the banana flower.

Location is Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. Alongside a stream and paddy fields. Bandung,Erionota thrax,Geotagged,Indonesia,Java,Palm Redeye,Palm Redeye Skipper,Summer,West Java, banana skipper
