Scilla odorata

Scilla odorata is an asparagus plant species was described by Heinrich Friedrich Link. Scilla odorata is included in the genus Scilla, and the family of asparagus plants. No subspecies are listed in the Catalogue of Life. This plant is endemic to the Iberian Peninsula where it occurs mainly along the west coast of Portugal (The Board of Trustees of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew 2010). Its area of occupancy in Portugal is 1,600 km² and the species has been reported to be in expansion (Commission of the European Communities 2009). The species was reported from Andalucia in Spain but has not been found there for several years. It was recently reported from Extremadura (S. Talavera pers. comm. 2011).
