Paropsis delittlei

Paropsis delittlei

Paropsis delittlei is a small Australian eucalyptus leaf beetle found mostly in Tasmania but possibly also some records in southern Victoria.
Paropsis delittlei This is the male of the species to illustrate the sexual dimorphism unique to a few species in this genus. I encountered this beetle while bush-walking on Hartz Mountains with David de Little, after whom this Beetle is named. David worked in forestry and knows every tree species in Tasmania, and is the leading expert in Tasmania
on the beetles that eat them.

The mainland sister species is the dimorphic <Paropsis intermedia>. Here is the male.

Appearance

About 10mm long. High domed shape. Densely pitted elytra but sometimes with underlying linear patterns. Pronotum with mottled patterns of light and dark. Colours may range from dark greys to pale tans, creams and pink.
Paropsis delittlei This species is dimorphic. This is female. I do not own a male image. Male will look very similar to male Paropsis intermedia.
