White halfwing shells (Campanella tristis) Growing from a dead nothofagus branch in a very dense, wet part of a forest
These were up to about 15mm wide. All white, offset stem, cross gills.
Roadside in a national park.

Appearance

Often appearing in clusters each shell-like cap grows to about 20mm wide. Offset short stipe seems to shape the cap around it giving a bi-lobed appearance. The lobes are cupped and appear verrucose from above. Papery thin. Gills are few but meandering and often crossed.

Distribution

Mostly warmer parts of Australia and New Zealand.

Habitat

Wet forests.
