Appearance

Podarcis virescens reaches 6.0 to 6.5 cm long (snout-vent length). The body is moderately robust and has a slightly flattened head. The dorsal scales are bead-like, typical of the genus. As with other lacertids, sexual dimorphism is marked by a cylindrical body, wider head, and the presence of femoral pores in the groin in males, in contrast with the more sinusoidal body, the narrower head and femoral incipient pores of the female. Furthermore sexes differ in color.
