Ceratosanthes hilariana is a South American species of vine in the gourd family. It was described by Célestin Alfred Cogniaux in 1877.

It produces an aqueous tuber which can grow to half a meter in size. It is sought after in dry season as a source for water. During the Chaco War (Bolivia - Paraguay 1932/35), soldiers would dig them up and squeeze out the juice to drink. Lives were saved.
