Ornate Girdled Lizard

Zonosaurus ornatus

A medium-sized Zonosaurus species found in a variety of habitats in Madagascar, mostly in the central part of the eastern rainforest belt.
An Ornate Girdled Lizard (Zonosaurus ornatus) in need of a toothbrush We watched this colorful lizard grab a much smaller day gecko and toss it around. I probably disturbed it with my photography attempts, as the gecko managed to get away. But it looks like the Zonosaurus still has a grasshopper leg sticking out of its mouth from its last meal, so I don't think it went hungry that day.
