Appearance
General: Herbaceous perennial from a short, stout rhizome and fibrous roots, the solitary stems 2-8 dm. tall.Leaves: Leaves few, long-petiolate, alternate, large, the blades up to 2.5 dm. long and 1.5 dm. wide, pinnatifid into 7-11 sessile leaflets, crowded toward the top, spaced lower down; leaflets pointed and sharply toothed, with 4-8 teeth to a side, hairy on both sides.
Flowers: Flowers in many-flowered, somewhat loose clusters, usually surpassing the leaves; calyx lobes 5, 3-6 mm. long with long hairs on the margins; corolla 6-10 mm. long, dull white to lavender; stamens 5, the filaments exerted, attached near the bottom of the corolla tube, each flanked by a pair of linear appendages; style exerted, 2-cleft.
Distribution
Widely distributed throughout much of Washington; British Columbia south to California, east to Utah.Habitat
