Appearance

Long arms, conical, blunt at the base, central body small, orange by young and as tending to bright red.
Up to 30 centimeters in diameter.

Distribution

Being a thermophilic species tends to be uncommon in the northern Mediterranean Sea, more frequent in the southern Adriatic Sea, the Sea of Marmara and the Aegean Sea.

Habitat

Available on hard bottom, coral, from 3 to 150 meters deep, usually under 10, often in caves.

Food

Feeds on sponges.
