Aplysia punctata

"Aplysia punctata" is a species of sea slug, a sea hare, a marine opisthobranch gastropod mollusk in the family Aplysiidae, the sea hares. It reaches a length of up to 20 cm and is found in the northeast Atlantic, ranging from Greenland and Norway to the Mediterranean Sea.

Appearance

The rhinophore of "Aplysia punctata" contains a groove, which extends to about two third of the total length of the rhinophore.

Secondary metabolites from marine sponges stimulate neurons in the rhinophore ganglion of the rhinophore of "Aplysia punctata".
