Appearance

These beetles are 7 to 16 mm in length. They are very close Mylabris pannonica Kaszab, 1956 and also have yellow-brown elytra with broad black wavy stripes. The bright spots of the elytra may vary not only in size but also by their color. Mylabris variabilis however differ from the related species by a black stripe at the end of the abdomen.
Sunflower days There are more than 50 species of sunflower (Helianthus), and here in Bulgaria July is the month when the fields are just a carpet of yellow. A beautiful warming site when driving through the country. Even the resident bugs share the sunflower colours Helianthus,Mylabris variabilis,Sunflower, summer, sunny, yellow
