Appearance

The cap is cylindrical, later becomes conical and straightened, the color is yellow, orange or even red. Cap's diameter is 2 to 10 cm. The gills are loose or slightly attached to the stem. The stem is up to 6-8 cm high, and 3-6 mm thick.

Naming

The scientific name Hygrocybe acutoconica (Clements 1893) Singer 1951, is accepted by International Mycological Association, while more popular names Hygrocybe persistens (Britzelm.) Singer 1940 and Hygrocybe langei (Kühner) A.H. Sm. & Hesler 1942 are synonyms.
