The Holly Blue is a butterfly that belongs to the Lycaenids or Blues family and is native to Eurasia and North America. In India, it is known as the Hill Hedge Blue. The Hollie Blue is a beautiful butterfly, with pale silver-blue wings spotted with pale ivory dots.
Himalayan Hill Hedge Blue Blues are group of small butterflies which are literally of Blue colour from inside of their wings and that blue flash one can see when this butterflies are fluttering around. This special one was photographed at the altitude of 1400m near the tributary of river Ravi in India. This one also has an apt name 'Hill Hedge Blue'. In Europe, the first generation feeds mainly on Holly (Ilex aquifolium) but the second generation uses a range of foodplants.
