Appearance
Green (smaragd green) colored, short horned. Short tegmen (males with a bit longer tegmen). Some have chalky-pink / reddish forms, especially in the female.
Distribution
The total distribution ranges from the Pyrenees to Siberia. In Europe it is increasingly found in more continental climate, as in eastern and Southeastern Europe. In Germany it is missing in the north German plain. Elsewhere, Euthystira brachyptera avoids the purely Atlantic climate area, so northwestern France.
Habitat
Euthystira brachyptera needs unmown habitats, which can belong both to the dry range (higher growing limestone grasslands, pastures) and to the humid one (fens and sedge reeds). The adaptable species occurs also in woodland clearings. In calcareous juniper grasslands, it is particularly common in Brachypodium pinnatum dominated places.
Reproduction
The adults appear from June to October. The eggs are deposited above ground in packages taped to plants, such as between glued grass leaves.
