''Xylota segnis'' is a common European species of hoverfly.
Orange-belted Leafwalker (Xylota segnis) Widespread and fairly frequent throughout the UK; especially so in the South, because this is essentially a woodland species, it may not be as recognisable as those hoverflies we see in our gardens.

Behavior

Adults feed by grazing on anemophilous pollen grazed from surface of leaves. Larvae are normally associated with decaying tree sap, but have also been found in decaying human remains.
