Yellow and Black Potter Wasp

Appearance

Brown to black body with a yellow belly. There is a yellow pattern on the chest. It has small, slender and long waist which is brownish red in color called petiole. The antennas are brownish red with black tip.

Distribution

Indonesia, Thailand, China, Australia.

Behavior

Arboreal, terrestrial, diurnal.
Delta campaniforme build a nest from mud and shaped like a jug. At night these wasps do not rest in the nest, but in the grass.

Habitat

Parks and forests.

Reproduction

After mating, the female of Delta campaniforme lays her eggs in the nest, which is followed by the laying of hairless caterpillars as food for the larvae.
