Appearance

Body flat. Wing cases (elytra) orange-brown with black lumps. Wide flat edge around elytra and mid-body (pronotum). Body up to 3 cm long. Carrion Beetles feed on dead animal carcasses and maggots (fly larvae). They fly at night and are attracted to lights.

Distribution

Mainland Australia and Tasmania.

Habitat

Near or on dead animals in forests and heathlands.
