Calytrix alpestris

Calytrix alpestris is a shrub 1–2.5 m high, spreading, wiry; branchlets pubescent, often arching. Leaves linear to narrowly ovate or narrowly lanceolate, thick, crowded, mostly perpendicular to branches, 1–5 mm long, c. 0.5 mm wide, usually with scattered, stiff hairs; apex usually acute.

Appearance

Flowers usually white (usually pink in bud), sometimes pink, few borne in distant clusters in upper leaf axils; bracteoles connate and persistent; hypanthium to 4 mm long, free from style; calyx-lobes orbicular, c. 1 mm long, apex rounded or acute, rarely acuminate or awned; petals elliptic, 4–6 mm long; stamens 14–37. Flowers Sep.–Dec.

Also SA. In Victoria confined to west and north-west where found in heathlands and heathy woodlands on sandy soils.
