Appearance

Ovoid, slightly compressed, dark green pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, plicate, elliptic, petiolate, dark green leaf that blooms on a pendulous, 2 to 8 flowered, 6" [15 cm] long inflorescence that is subtended by large, chartaceous bracts, and carries large, fragrant sweet scented flowers occuring in the sumer and fall.

Distribution

Originally found in Mexico. Elsewhere as ornamental.

Habitat

found at elevations of 600 to 1700 meters
