The scarlet-shouldered parrotlet, also known as the red-winged parrotlet or Huet's parrotlet, is a species of parrot in the family Psittacidae. It is found in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru, Trinidad and Tobago, and Venezuela. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests.

Appearance

It is 16 cm in length and weighs 60 g. It has white eyerings and dark lores.

Distribution

Its range encompasses Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru, Trinidad and Tobago, and Venezuela. It mainly inhabits forest edge and understory in terra firme and varzea forest.

Habitat

It has been observed up to an elevation of 1,200 m.

Food

Its diet consists mainly of fruits, seeds, berries and small nuts.
