Appearance
The upright stem, up to 1 meter high, is leafy with numerous consecutive lanceolate leaves, and at the top, it bears one, more often 2-3 (even up to 5) golden-yellow large flowers. The perianth petals are strongly curved backward and are sprinkled with brown spots on the inside. The heavy brick-red anther bags hang on long handles, with a three-part orange lollipop between them. The stem is very tough and when it tries to break off, it is pulled out next to the bulb itself, so it is doomed to die.It has a strong and unpleasant odor that attracts pollinators.
