Appearance

Leaves dark green. Flowers yellow-green to yellow, more or less flushed with red-brown or chocolate brown; lip yellow, veined with (violet-) purple or brown.
Erect canes carrying 4 to 6 leathery, elliptic leaves often having their roots in high water for the winter and spring then blooming on an axillary, erect, 12" to 24" [30 to 60 cm] long, racemose, few to many flowered inflorescence with nodding, wide-open flowers that arise from the nodes on the upper portion of the newly mature and old psuedobulbs.

Distribution

A medium to large-sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte found in New Guinea, New Caledonia, the Philippines, the Bismark archipelago, the Admiralty Islands and Vanuatu at elevations of sea level to 800 meters occuring in swamplands and low riverine forests on mangrove and trees.

Habitat

Epiphyte in rainforest, usually in exposed positions at an altitude of 800 m or more.
